I honestly don't think the character slots are limited because of disk space (each character only takes up a few kilobytes.) I read somewhere that they limited it to reduce hoarding and muling. Although this doesn't explain why we can't merge accounts or purchase extra slots, since the hoarders can just buy a second game, neglecting the unlockables. But I agree, there needs to be a way to have more character slots.

Now there's an idea, i'd happily pay £10 for a couple of new slots, i'm sure there are plenty of others that would too (and plenty who wouldn't of course )

If A.Net wanted to reduce hoarding/muling, why not drop a bag from the characters and give you an extra 20 slots in your storage? I'd rather put my stuff in one place anyway rather than the annoying process of log off, log on, move item to storage, log off, log on. ugh...

Yes there is and you gave the reason yourself.

That's the reason it should be a PvP slot only. No one needs to create 6 PvE characters... you can dabble in all the professions in just 3 slots. Having a 5th slot that is strictly PvP would still allow those who enjoy the PvE side of the game AND like the characters they have designed, but allow those people to make a PvP toon for when the mood strikes them.

I've played as a Necro and a Monk and neither profession is really for me, but I love doing PvE with the others and going back on certain missions to help guild mates. However, I also don't want to destroy one of these guys each time I would like to create a build with all the unlocks I've gained. My original Elementalist has been destroyed so many times, I've never been able to get him much further than the first few Ascalon missions. I enjoy an occasional PvP, and having 3 guys that I haven't finished the game with makes me not want to delete any of THEM, so my El is the one that suffers each time...

I'm a casual player, not a hardcore "grinder" or monster PvP number cruncher... but I do like to experiment with the occasional PvP toon without having to destroy my previous PvE work. An extra slot won't kill the server or the balance of the game.

A say change the way PvP characters function entirely. Make an overall PvP account name (that can be one word, like the handle you use in most games) and give them the option to mask it with a character name. When they select this PvP account they can select from the predesigned builds or stored builds on their computer. This will save them time if they have a set few PvP builds they prefer to run. The stored builds just automatically feed the data into the creation system and any skill on a stored build you don't have is left as a blank slot.

This prevents people from stealing a primary name if you wish to play under another name for the time being. It also allows PvP players to be more organized and trade builds. For example you can give them the option to transfer a build to another player if they want. Players can then trade builds, experiment, and maybe even be given the opportunity to submit successful builds to Arena.net. The current predesigned builds are in desperate need of an update (they should probably just toss W/R, E/Mo Smiter, and KD+AS War on that list at this point.)

Personally I would like to have six PvE character slots and couple PvP slots but Anet should at least make PvP character slot(s) so I can use those minimal 4 PvE characters. Now I have three PvE and one PvP. Not good.

a 5th PvP only slot would be great, another 2 slots for PvE would be nice...

why a Pvp only slot? That would give only pvp players an extra slot and a perpendicular middle finger to those players that detest Pvp. Just 2 more Universal slots would be enough to satisfy most, add them with the expansion pack and thatll solve any money problem.

More vault space would be nice too, sure Anet want to stop hoarding but the players dont, and its the players who determine whether the game survives.

I think 4 slots is best. If anything, it's on the high side.
Personally, I would have been OK with something as low as 2 general slots + 1 pvp only slot.

I think adding a pvp only slot makes sense ( especially sicne there is a lower server space req). it encoruages PVE players to "give pvp a try" without it costing them anything, which can only broaden the experience. It also encourages PVP players to try more PVE options, which will only broaden their experience.
I also would like to see more general slots in the expansion. I just started this week and I must admit that i winced at the small number.
Reguardign costs and their their busines model, it is really quite solid. It atracts people who wouldn't otherwise play an MMORPG, like myself. I used to, but I'd sworn them off due to the time and money. I am now somewhat of what you would probably call a "Casual Gamer" Being able to play an MMORPG as little or much as I like is a huge lure, the only oen that would be abel to get me to buy one again (short of VR, of coruse :P ). I enjoy them, but I neither want to dedicate several hours a day to them *NOR* do I want to pay money to "subscribe" to a service I rarely if ever use.
What that means is that guildwars got 50 bucks from me and thousands of other people just like me who wouldn't pay for a subscription based MMORPG but who will play the game a lot for a few weeks consumign eprhaps $2.00 in bandwith then probably not very much after that and will simply take up maybe $0.10 of hard drive space. Oh and probably shell out 35 bucks or so for an expansion, too. Simialrly, there's an even alrger chunk of parents who will buy their child guidlwars who wouldnt bu them a monthly fee based game.
